Expert's commentary and biography: Born in 1926, Rodolphe Planquette is a French post-war artist, mainly recognized for his impressionist style. The artist therefore favors landscapes and scenes of life in his works and fixes on the support a fleeting vision of changing reality. Fascinated by light, the artist juxtaposes bright and light colors to best represent his impressions of the subject. The pastel technique used in small curved strokes facilitates the rendering desired by the artist and gives this feeling of open air and lightness to his works.
