Janie Michels (1920-2009) is a Belgian and Dutch painter who studied at the School of Fine Arts in Brussels. The quality of her drawings and the originality of her style pushed Matisse to invite her, she would then become his model and his pupil until her death in 1954. The countess of the chapel painted intimate works sometimes out of time which a certain art of living and the love of beauty. The artist often begins with a charcoal drawing then influenced by the Master, she refines to find the essential line. The softness of his tawny colors then gives life to his elegant compositions.
