Biography : Iracema Arditi (born in São Paulo - Brazil on February 1, 1924, died on October 4, 2006 in São Paulo - Brazil), began to paint in 1951. After being interested in popular arts, she encouraged the naive painters of her entourage. She is now considered the greatest Brazilian naive painter. Iracema recreates the forest with its lushness, both Eden and Hell. One of his favorite titles, "Rio Surnaturel", is an evocation of this space so common in Brazil where water, earth, vegetation and the animal world are intimately mixed. Iracema's work has traveled all over the world. She exhibited in 1965 for the first time in São Paulo, then in Paris, Galerie Herbinet (her first client was Baroness Alix de Rothschild!). butterflies. This work is basically an oil painting exhibited at MIDAN (International Naif Art Museum of VICQ in the 78) From 1965 to 1990, Iracema exhibited in Brazil, Paris, Rome, Brussels, Marseille, Laval, Tehran , Zurich... She was present in Lyon in 1970, during a group exhibition. At the Salon d'Automne in Paris, Iracema has always been present since 1967. She became a corporate member and a member of the jury. France, which the artist considers to be a "family", will have awarded him fine distinctions: the Camille-Renault Medal in Paris in 1969, the First Prize at the International Painting Festival of Cagnes in 1971, the Medal of the City of Laval in 1974 and, above all, in 1985, the cross of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres.
