Why Bertrand likes : Mr. Nacke demonstrates through his projects that a decorator is often also an artist. I particularly like his interiors of beautiful homes that can be found in the Hollywood cinema of the 1950s.
Why Nathan likes : Its beautifully detailed drawings of its worthy interiors show how much we have lost with computer-generated design. These large scale designs take me back to the Art Deco era and I feel like I know the house. Well done Hans! We would love to know more about you if anyone knows anything.
Expert's comments and artist's biography : Hans Nacke was a German decorator who worked in Detmold before the war mainly for wealthy clients. Its furnished interiors are characteristic of the Art Deco movement which shows, after the extravagances and curves of Art Nouveau, a return to classical rigor: symmetry, stylized orders and floral decoration but severely framed.
