Expert's comments and biography : Ernest Leduc is a Parisian independent designer who worked as a "dress designer" for the greatest haute couture houses of the second half of the 19th century. Ernest Leduc sold his gouache paintings and they were then used as a medium for the creation of the dresses. Some great couturiers started out like this: Poiret sold sketches to Cheruit before being hired by Doucet and Dior sold sketches of hats to Claude Saint-Cyr. To our knowledge, he had two workshops in Paris: one located at 24 rue Lamartine and another 93 rue de martyrs.
