Why Bertrand likes : Like Gustave Courbet, Alexandre Genaille with his realistic drawings offers us an engaging nature promenade. The quality and precision of his drawing is impressive. I like this campaign around Paris which inspires from the beginning of the 20th century the artist.

Expert's comments and artist's biography : After studying at the ENSAD (National School of Decorative Arts), he joined the famous Cartier jewelry store at Rue de la Paix in Paris as a designer. He then joined Pierre Cartier on 5th Avenue in New York where he was a designer then head of department. He spent 23 years in New York where he started watercolor on the basis of preparatory pencil drawings. On his return to France he produced numerous watercolors and other drawings, the main subjects of which were the picturesque French villages of Seine et Marne and Normandy. Alexandre Genaille is a nature lover, he draws and paints forests and their trees of all species, rivers and flower gardens. He loves all seasons but he particularly likes winter and its snowy landscapes. His return from New York marks the development of new artistic activities such as stencils, lithography, painting or sculpture. In the artist’s drawings, we immediately perceive the architect’s precision, but above all the artist’s sensitivity to the wonders of nature.
