Biography: Ray POIRIER, born in 1935 in Anjou. He was attracted to drawing at a very young age and was noted for the quality of his line. He then left his native region for Indre-et-Loire and enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in TOURS. Captivated by the South and its light, he moved to FREJUS to paint the landscapes of Provence, without however giving up his passion for equestrian motifs, where he excelled. Since 1977, he has taken part in numerous international exhibitions and won several prizes. Personal exhibitions are also dedicated to him: in 1981, Galerie Couleurs d’Aujourd’hui in Paris; in 1983, Galerie Cimaise in Paris; 1986, Galerie des Dauphins in Sainte-Maxime. It is best known and appreciated for its Provençal landscapes. His canvases reflect the soul of the South where the brilliance of the sun and the discreet elegance of the light transpire.
